SEYKEN is an free of charge online RPG dedicated to console classics. This java based game was strongly inspired by oldschool console games like the "Secret of Mana", “Chronotrigger”, “Zelda” or the "Final Fantasy" Series.

The aim of SEYKEN is to combine the magnificent flair of roleplaying and adventure games of the late 90's - as well to enhance the gameplay by making adventure gameplay multiuser capable.

Well, getting started is actually pretty easy ... just follow the steps described below and you should be in the adventure of your lifetime in no time.

Step#1 >> Create an account and thereafter login and create a character
After creating an account you get an activation email with all the data necessary to login to the accountserver - so make sure your email adress is entered correctly. Once logged in you can create your game character by choosing a name and a class. Please keep in mind that it can take up to 5 minutes until a newly created character is available for gaming and by this visible in the client character available screen.

Step#2 >> Play directly via webstart or Download Win2k/XP/Vista Client
If you want to play via the standalone client just download it and extract client into a directory of your choice. Before starting the client run the updater.exe once to get the latest game data. Game start with SEYKEN,exe. Downloadable client runs about 25% faster than the browser version.

Required >> SEYKEN requires JAVA. (Its free! Get it at www.java.com)
For thoose of you who are not familiar with JAVA just lets say its like Mircrosoft’s DirectX - its required to play the game. Just download and install with all default settings, its that easy.

What’s done and what’s to come ...
SEYKEN steadily approaches its final stage of development. There is still alot to be done - but still also alot of content and features already done. Presbyter can be found ingame or in the forum to discuss the future of SEYKEN from a gamedesigner’s point of view. Therefore it’s almost mandatory to check the forum from time to time to know what’s going on actually. >> To the Forum

- Class change following either a light or dark path & Prestige Classes (highest subclass)
- Party gameplay up to 5 players total
- dynamical Monster & Bossystem
- Pathfinding System
- Gathering & Crafting System
- Professions based on choosen Starterclsss
- Minimap

(Note: some of the above mentioned features may be unavailable during beta/pre phase!)
 

This a non-commercial, completely free to play, fanbased project intended to keep the old classic console games alive and playable even though they have been long gone in stores or the neccessary console isn't manufactured anymore. We want to open a doorway to let the current generation of new gamers see how RPGs were about 10 - 20 years ago. No 3-D graphics, no digital sound, no superfast firstperson egoshooter gameplay. Some of the classic series are gone but some are still produced very successfully. Sadly they don't have anything in common with the old classics because time, technology, and gameplay change the concept of what a "classic" game is. Please, support these games by purchasing and playing them. You even can find original consoles and cartridges at ebay. Again, this project does not mean to harm the classics or their makers. We respect and admire other people's imagination and hard work. This project is meant as a contribution to a community that gave so much to us!
